Ben Delo: the crypto billionaire who has given Reform UK £44mn

In late June, Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, MP Robert Jenrick, and the party’s treasurer Nick Candy, as well as Restore Britain leader Rupert Lowe, mingled with charity executives, architects and mathematicians at the National Gallery.

They were celebrating one man — Ben Delo — and his achievements.

“I am proud to stand with you and support you,” Delo told the audience at his annual summer party, which spanned people from various groups that have received donations from the crypto company founder.

“I am saddened and frustrated by the economic and social decline of Britain,” he said, adding that “we live in times that call for national renewal and that is what I’m hoping for, what I am fighting for”.

One attendee said: “All the [Reform] MPs were there . . . lots of Reform types although they hadn’t been there in the past.” Less than three months later, Delo has become the source of the joint biggest donation in British political history.

The crypto exchange founder gave a record £36mn to Reform, outstripping any British political donation in modern times, with the aim of helping the party “get ready for government”.
