Forenote: I have an undergraduate degree in Chinese Language and Literature. I fly to China for business trips quite regularly for work in the crypto space. I think it's fair to say that, even though I'm not a native speaker of Chinese, I am a subject matter expert.
Why am I making this post? Lately I see people whining about the mod team allowing posts regarding crackdowns / bans on crypto in China. Traditionally speaking, even though we have seen that quality news in crypto is not always in abundance, and we know that the CCP generally does not like crypto, it is my personal belief that as long as there is a source that comes from a .gov.cn website and that the .gov.cn source in question has been posted recently enough (let's say less than a week ago), then it qualifies as news.
In China, communication is done in a way that sometimes seems to be code-language. A couple of examples: In China, words used are different from the rest of the world - even in other Chinese speaking areas of the planet like Malaysia, Taiwan, etc. Cousins are referred to as brothers or sisters in China (a remnant of the one-child policy, which ended in 2016, but this cultural-linguistic fragment remains) while in Taiwan and Malaysia, "brother" or "sister" means strictly siblings from the same parent. There's another term known as "entertainment" - which usually refers to gambling, but can also be used to refer to as nightlife in China. In Taiwan and Malaysia, this usually strictly just means "entertainment."
So, what are the recent trending code words in China? RWA, Scrolls (roll-ups), and compliance. You see the CCP, is trying their best to say "Anything with a blockchain cannot be guaranteed by the CCP, and we will take appropriate action against those who go against what we say." And there are plenty of singapore-based cryptocurrency projects that have user-bases in China.
https://www.pbc.gov.cn/tiaofasi/144941/3581332/2026020619591971323/index.html - recent source in question that was cited.
How is this different from the bitcoin mining ban and alipay / wechatpay not allowing people to buy and sell crypto?
The link above from pbc.gov.cn is trying to suffocate and prevent any Chinese cryptocurrency projects from taking off at all. It explicitly states that advertising companies cannnot help crypto projects advertise at all. It also says that people in China who help overseas cryptocurrency projects do business in China are committing crimes. Before, the CCP would not target individuals doing business / marketing cryptocurrency projects in China. So if you're advertising a new blockchain that was made in USA, Singapore, Canada, UAE, Europe to Chinese people in China, you're committing a crime.
TL;DR - I have no idea why there is a small group of people yelling at me for crypto media citing and using up-to-date sources.
EDIT Reason: The final sentence of the final paragraph for emphasis.
