This could have been an attempt at an armed robbery.

There is not enough imagery to ascertain who the people are to watch for, but given the neighborhood and state (NY), it is very likely the three who entered with weapons are Hispanic; it is common for you to be approached at your own place of residence by them and for them to refuse to leave.
